Recently, Dr. Chen Jianchao, President of the Australian Chinese Medicine Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Zheng Maoqiang, Honorary President, held an in-depth and forward-looking exchange with Dr. Lin Ziqiang, the legislative father known as the "Father of Chinese Medicine Legislation in Australia", at Greenstone Winery, owned by Mr. Jiang Zhaoqing. The exchange focused on the current development status and future prospects of traditional Chinese medicine in Australia, a multicultural land.

During the communication, Dr. Chen Jianchao first emphasized the core direction of the current work by combining the five major principles of the Chamber of Commerce. He mentioned that the Chamber of Commerce is based on "resource integration" and gathering domestic and foreign policies, scientific research, and capital resources from the Chinese and Australian industries, such as connecting with institutions such as the China Association for the Promotion of Multinational Companies and China Investment Corporation International Capital Limited; At the same time, with "improving standards" as the key, we will promote the construction of service quality and industry standards for traditional Chinese medicine in Australia, laying a solid foundation for the long-term development of the industry. He said, "The development of traditional Chinese medicine in Australia needs to take into account both compliance and innovation, meeting local regulatory requirements and leveraging the unique advantages of traditional Chinese medicine

Honorary President Zheng Maoqiang focuses on the implementation path of China Australia cooperation. He pointed out that Australia has high-quality land resources and a mature elderly care industry foundation, which can be deeply integrated with China's "Chinese medicine going global" policy and the experience of Chinese medicine adapting to aging.

Dr. Lin Ziqiang expressed sincere recognition and warm congratulations to Dr. Chen Jianchao for establishing the Australian Traditional Chinese Medicine Association's "Light of Inheritance" initiative. He sighed and said that the establishment of the Chamber of Commerce has provided a crucial platform for communication and collaboration among practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine in Australia. It has profound significance in consolidating industry strength and promoting the standardized and large-scale development of traditional Chinese medicine in Australia. It is another important milestone in the development of traditional Chinese medicine in Australia.

When it comes to the legislative process of traditional Chinese medicine in Australia, Dr. Lin Ziqiang opened the conversation box and his words were full of emotion. He recalled many years ago, traditional Chinese medicine faced many doubts and difficulties in Australia, even on the brink of being banned. At that time, he stepped forward and joined forces with local natural therapy societies and other forces to lobby the parliament. At the hearing, he argued with reason, using his professional knowledge and firm beliefs to fight for opportunities for the survival and development of traditional Chinese medicine. After 15 years of unremitting efforts, in May 2000, the world's first law on traditional Chinese medicine (including acupuncture and moxibustion) was officially launched in Victoria, Australia. In 2012, the Australian federal government passed legislation on traditional Chinese medicine and incorporated traditional Chinese medicine into the Australian health industry registration management and certification system. This arduous journey is not only his personal struggle history, but also a witness to the transformation of Australian traditional Chinese medicine from being excluded to being recognized.

When discussing the future development of traditional Chinese medicine, Dr. Lin Ziqiang emphasized the importance of inheritance and innovation. He pointed out that the inheritance of traditional Chinese medicine is the foundation, and the ancient theories, classic formulas, and diagnostic and therapeutic techniques of traditional Chinese medicine are treasures that have been accumulated for thousands of years and must be fully inherited. But at the same time, we must keep up with the pace of the times and actively innovate. For example, in drug development, combining modern technological means to conduct more in-depth research on traditional Chinese medicine, improving its quality standards and efficacy stability; In terms of diagnosis and treatment mode, explore new paths of integration and complementarity with Western medicine to better integrate traditional Chinese medicine into the Australian healthcare system.

Dr. Lin Ziqiang also emphasized that in the development of traditional Chinese medicine overseas, industry unity is crucial. He praised President Chen Jianchao for playing a crucial role in maintaining relationships among various Chinese medicine associations. The Australian Chinese Medicine Association is like a resilient bond, bringing together dispersed forces of traditional Chinese medicine to form a strong synergy. By integrating resources, organizing academic exchange activities, and strengthening communication and cooperation with the government and other industries, a more favorable environment has been created for the development of traditional Chinese medicine in Australia. Nowadays, the acceptance of traditional Chinese medicine among the Australian public is gradually increasing, the number of traditional Chinese medicine clinics is steadily growing, and traditional Chinese medicine products are gradually emerging in the market. However, challenges still exist, such as limited coverage of traditional Chinese medicine in medical insurance and further optimization of the admission standards for traditional Chinese medicine. All of these require joint efforts within the industry to address them.

Dr. Chen Jianchao listened carefully to Dr. Lin Ziqiang's sharing and, combined with the work practice of the Chamber of Commerce, elaborated on his own insights. He stated that the Chamber of Commerce will continue to uphold the purpose of serving the industry and promoting development in the future, guided by the experience of predecessors such as Dr. Lin Ziqiang, further strengthen cooperation with all parties, and continue to make efforts in promoting the popularization of traditional Chinese medicine education, expanding the field of traditional Chinese medicine services, and enhancing the international influence of traditional Chinese medicine, so that traditional Chinese medicine can shine more brilliantly in Australia and make greater contributions to improving the health and well-being of the people of China and Australia
