On September 6, 2025, at 07:00 PM Sydney time, the second online symposium on the development and cooperation of traditional Chinese medicine in Australia will be held. The Australian Traditional Chinese Medicine Chamber of Commerce, the Chinese Geriatric Healthcare Medical Research Association, the Beijing National Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine Foundation, as well as experts in policy, finance, and technology, gathered to conduct in-depth exchanges on the legality, industry development, international cooperation, and cultural promotion of traditional Chinese medicine in Australia, laying a clear path for the standardized and industrialized development of traditional Chinese medicine in Australia.

At the meeting, Dr. Chen Jianchao, President of the Chamber of Commerce, revealed that the Australian traditional Chinese medicine industry has established a certain foundation - as of June 30th, there are 4898 registered Chinese medicine practitioners and over 2500 clinics in Australia, and traditional Chinese medicine has become the world's first traditional medicine category to be recognized by legislation as early as 2012. However, the dispersion of industries and the lack of systematic industrial support remain key issues that constrain development. In this regard, the Australian Chamber of Traditional Chinese Medicine put forward a clear vision: to promote China Australia cooperation and help the internationalization and modernization of traditional Chinese medicine by unifying industry representatives, building data platforms and research centers. Currently, acupuncture and moxibustion has been recognized by the mainstream, and the promotion of traditional Chinese medicine has become the focus of the next stage.

The feasibility of key cooperation directions has become a focus of discussion. Chen Qizhuang, Executive President of the Chamber of Commerce, stated that at the level of industrial implementation, the Tasmanian case of Chinese herbal medicine cultivation provides practical reference - the project has received a funding of 1 million Australian dollars, and local land resources are suitable for the development of the entire Chinese herbal medicine industry chain; Liu Yongmin, President of the Beijing National Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine Foundation, stated that the establishment of traditional Chinese medicine hospitals needs to focus on breaking through issues such as adapting medical regulations, connecting insurance policies, and planning department settings. At the policy and standard level, the definition of the attributes of "medical" or "health care" in traditional Chinese medicine institutions directly affects the qualification certification and medical insurance integration; Zheng Maoqiang, Honorary President of the Chamber of Commerce, stated that the cultivation of traditional Chinese medicine requires consideration of the impact of latitude and soil on drug efficacy, while the industrialization of drugs must strictly comply with the regulations of the Australian Medicines Agency. Dr. Michael Li reviewed his visit to China in April this year, leading an Australian delegation of traditional Chinese medicine, culture, sports, and economic trade

Technological innovation injects new vitality into the standardization of traditional Chinese medicine. The plant stem cell technology developed by Dr. Huang's team can efficiently produce effective ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine. The plan is to standardize 8000-10000 types of traditional Chinese medicine in the short term. This technology has been recognized by representatives from China and Australia, and the two sides plan to cooperate on the development of high-quality medicinal resources worldwide based on it.

Resource integration has become an important support for promoting cooperation. In terms of the Chinese delegation, the team led by Li Yachen has obtained cooperation intentions from Changchun University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the National Health Commission, and other institutions. Zhang Wei, the general manager of CITIC International Capital Co., Ltd., has clearly stated that it will provide financial support for the development of the Australian traditional Chinese medicine industry; In Australia, Tianjian Certified Public Accountants Australia Branch provides company establishment, tax compliance, and fund matching services. The Australia China Chamber of Commerce will coordinate multiple resources to assist in the overseas implementation of traditional Chinese medicine.

Cultural promotion and recent action plans should be synchronized and clearly defined. The meeting decided to prioritize the construction of the Australian Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine, combining industrial parks and digital technology to reduce the difficulty of implementation. At the same time, it is planned to launch an international volunteer project for traditional Chinese medicine to expand cultural influence. In the short term, a special working group will be established and a communication group will be set up. Zhu Zheng, CEO of Panshi Financial Group, will organize the meeting minutes to lay the foundation for the next meeting to clarify the effectiveness goals and directions.

This seminar not only consolidated the consensus on cooperation in the field of traditional Chinese medicine between China and Australia, but also formed specific plans in terms of industry landing, technology application, resource integration, etc., pressing the "acceleration key" for the high-quality development and international dissemination of traditional Chinese medicine in Australia.
